About Us

Established in 2009 Drifters has been a pivotal part of the 5 points area for years. From humble beginnings, Drifters has become the secret sanctuary for barbeque in East Nashville. Tucked away in an alley right next to the 5 points intersection, we've been serving families of the local community as a hidden gem; hosting live, local bands and artists on our outdoor patio stage, catering fun events and parties, serving awesome food and drink specials, and providing the best Hickory-smoked Southern BBQ around. So bring the kids, bring the dog even, and join us for some good ol' fashioned fun times at Drifters.

Meet the General Manager

Marscha Seraphine

Originally from Louisiana, now living on Nashville's East Side, Marscha has quickly become a pillar of the local Drifters community. Extremely driven in her work, Marscha is not afraid to get her hands dirty. You may one day catch her behind the bar, serving drinks, and chatting it up, the next day you might see her at the smoker, learning and refining the Drifters Hickory-smoking process. Whatever the task at hand, Marscha is the one to go above and beyond to help and serve others. And she'll do it all while cracking jokes and with a smile!

Meet the Director of Operations

Josef Gutzmirtl

A native of Pennsylvania, but longtime Nashville resident, husband, and father of two, Josef has been tirelessly working behind the scenes since Drifters' inception. Whether it's handling the day-to-day operations, maintaining equipment and appliances, connecting with customers and clients, or catering your party, Josef is the guy you can rely on. When an issue or problem arises that no one else can handle, Josef is the paragon of problem solvers.

Meet the Owner

Matthew Charette

The youngest of seven children, son to a French gourmet chef, Matt Charette has been around good food all his life and the restaurant industry is nothing unfamiliar to him. This East Nashville restaurateur was one of the first to develop the 5 points area into what it is today. Opening his first restaurant and bar in 2003 (Beyond the Edge), and then his second in 2006 (Batter'd & Fried), Matt continued to strive and move forward, opening Drifters' doors in 2009. Named one of 2015's East Nashvillians of the Year, Matt has built not only great companies, but also great communities.
